Uninterrupted Broadband Connectivity
for Long-Endurance Missions
Unmanned surface vehicles (USV) are commonly used to protect maritime assets such as oil rigs, territorial waters, exclusive economic zones and maritime borders. Sensors send real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) information to shore, without putting naval personnel in harm’s way. USVs also are used for scientific or commercial services, such as weather research or oceanography.
For today’s long-endurance USVs which operate beyond line of sight (BLOS), reliable and high-performance satellite communications are essential for ensuring uninterrupted connectivity in harsh maritime conditions.
Gilat offers an affordable and compact solution that suits the needs of even the smallest USVs. Designed for high-throughput communication, the forward link provides command and control, while the return link sends sensor data to shore.
Using a minimal SWaP (size, weight and power) maritime terminal, the solution transmits high-speed IP-based video or data for BLoS applications. In addition, the maritime terminal delivers spectrum-efficient IP connectivity, adaptive in real time to varying link conditions.
